11.
Separateness is a myth.
I
use industrial products and then say that there is contamination
in the atmosphere. I use automobiles and raise hue and cry about
pollution. I expect hefty emoluments or fees and say others are
corrupt, who earn money through illegal means. I want success, position
but deprecate when I lose. I want to be exclusive, important- terrorism
shatters my importance. I have nuclear weapons and cry that others
should behave sanely.
Can we see how we try to cut off ourselves from the negative aspects
of any situation and want to enjoy positive ones?
Are we ready to assimilate negative aspects, that is, without reacting
in a manner that the negativities do not belong to us?
Seeing the problem without alienating oneself from the negativities
gives the mind space to act.
To see the
helplessness of the mind is the end of the game. Mind can not go
beyond seeing its helplessness (fear). All condemnation, deprecation
casts a veil over seeing the helplessness in the present. Mind dreads
as it entails the extinction of its faculty of seeking satisfaction.
Seeing one's helplessness (that is by not reacting to the negativities)
opens the door to a different faculty of the mind, which is total
intensity operating. This intensity can take care of every thing.
Reality is
wholeness; hence the feeling of helplessness in separateness ends
the game.

12. Goal and Truth.
Concentration on goal takes you to the goal and not to the truth. Concentration on goal energises you, gives you energy to achieve, to act, to keep you in high spirits. But the satisfaction (of achievement) will essentially attract lack in one form or the other to tell you that goal is not the truth.
If goal is not the truth, what is the truth?
It is realised when satisfaction in achievement is rejected. Moment to moment experiencing surmises to be the truth and not any pre determined goal. There is total concentration upon action, however painful or pleasurable it may be. There is no running away to any satisfactory idea.
The understanding is a spark that burns all notions, concepts, ideas
What is gained by understanding all this?
It is beyond the ideas of gains or losses. Truth can not be fitted into any ideas. When we try to fit the truth into any idea, the left out is also not non- truth. Hence the fitting is not possible. Truth is ‘what is’. All descriptions are fragmentary.
While reading all this, you may be satisfied that you have understood. This satisfaction will be broken to let you remind that this was not the truth.
But you are saying, it is true?
The words are true but not the ‘Truth’. This satisfaction in words is because you consider your present state as unsatisfactory and jump to the satisfaction given by words. Mind is working only like that. When you yourself see this movement of the mind of taking shelter in any thing to which it is inclined, you get hold of the error- you just become aware of the error. Once you become aware, it leaves its imprints upon you. The awareness is sudden and non-volitional. You are cut off from the movements of thought desiring satisfaction. Again this is not an end under which you can take shelter. You move in the world but your angle of observation changes. It is not the product of your thought. There is transformation.
You can inquire only; there is nothing to feel satisfied.

13. Stillness and Action
You open your fridge, milk spills over.
Your car is hit by another vehicle.
Your children are not getting good marks.
You are in disagreement with your boss in the office.
Your client has harmed your interests. In all the situations, mind pulls you down by positing as if you are in lack and tries to fulfill itself by
complaining, blaming (others or fate) or feeling guilty.
Can one see lack desires satisfaction by some idea? Can one ignore this movement not by an action of the will but spontaneously?
Not even ignoring, just seeing the whole movement is the end of the game.
Your target of business has been achieved.
You have got the promotion.
You have invented some new product or process.
You have completed some difficult task.
Prices of shares in your portfolio have zoomed. In all the situations, mind jumps to take credit, to give credit to others, to eulogise hard work, to thank gods,
to ascribe it to fate, karma and so on.
Can you see how mind wants to fix the situation to some psychological comfort in one way or the other?
Can you see in lack as well as in fulfillment, mind is stilled when it finds no ground of satisfaction to lean on?
In that stillness, there remains
nothing between you and the outer situation. There emerges action to meet the demand of the situation.
This is your connection to the ‘whole'. Top of page
14. The Zero Ground
Can one differentiate between (sift) actual comfort and psychological comfort?
Actual comfort is interaction of senses and mind with the outer world as it is. Psychological comfort is THINKING that something is comfortable, or was comfortable or will be comfortable. Mind feels psychologically comfortable in comparing time, places, persons, ideas, situations, that is, it splits every fact or challenge as a movement from lack ---> fulfilment. Just be aware of the fact.
Without psychological comfort, you are able to meet every moment fully with all your might. Psychological comfort limits your might. Without psychological comfort, you act from ‘zero ground'. ‘Zero' ground is the ground of detachment, the ground of wonder, the ground of uncertainty, the ground of witnessing, the ground of no-mind, the ground of nothingness, the ground of ‘what is'.
It is the ground of unknown, the ground of infinite possibilities, the ground of unified field, the ground of ‘wholeness'.
This ground does not recognize any lack or fulfillment. It is the ground of totality, the original energy, the source of all creation.
Mind can not know that ground. It (mind) is stilled in wonder. That ground expresses itself from moment to moment.

15. Silence
You can not be silent in this world as the world is made for action, for noise. There is no need to have a desire to be silent. Effort to become silent is noise, friction.
When thought sees its inability to be silent, it comes to its natural rhythm. Silence is a by product of this understanding.
You want to go to play. You have some studies to be done. The conflict is the noise of the thought. It wants to feel satisfied by taking a side. When you reject play, you feel satisfied that you have won by selecting studies. When you select play you feel satisfied that you are enjoying.
Your action is partial in both the cases. In the first case, you are forgoing the joy of play. In the second, case you are playing at the cost of your studies.
Can you see this game of the mind? Once you see the game without taking any side, there emanates action, which is complete. This action emerges from silence. You understand the futility of being in conflict and solving the conflict by your action, which is nothing but perpetuation of conflict. To see the emergence of action without any conflict is to see the wonder of reality, the automation of the scheme of the universe.

16. Living is a Verb
We feel positive in pleasure. This by definition makes us feel negative
in sorrow.
But why sorrow should come?
To tell only that there is nothing positive in pleasure.
Suffering is only to break the log of psychological comfort. Psychological comfort is nothing but holding of physical comfort (actuality) as idea, as a thought. And holding of physical comfort (actuality) as a thought is only in contrast to some lack, to cover up some lack.
Unless one understands this one is living in a cocoon. Always warding off pain through psychological comfort, which in turn is broken by pain. One never touches the core.
We are attached to living as if living is a ‘noun’, a thing. This attachment is automatically broken to tell that living is a verb, a process, a flow and not a finality.
All the negative situations you encounter (disease, accident, losses, stress ------) are not due to your lack of knowledge or capacity or that others were clever enough to take benefits. These are there due to the fact that you were gratified in your life somewhere that these situations arose to wake you up.
It is not analysing your gratifications but swiftly watching the habit of oneself to be gratified, which is now expressing, ‘to be out of the negative situation’. It is this habit, which has put you in this negative situation, which is clamouring to be carried forward. Here, in this negative situation you have the clue to break the cycle.
What is the appropriate answer to any or all the problems?
That mind seeks satisfaction through the solution of the problem. Can one see that this is a new problem? And this problem raises its head every time one faces an unfavourable situation. To understand this (new) problem is to end it. The end of it is the end of the problem making mechanism.

17. 'What is' is Wonder
Mind tends to conceptualise (good-bad and so on) every fact or challenge. It is impelled to conceptualise. Conceptualisation is superimposition upon ‘what is’. Mind is perplexed without conceptualisation. There are situations when entry of concept is held at bay- acute anger, extreme pleasure, stress, fear, sorrow and so on.
The energy rises during these states towards oneness; there is inbuilt mechanism to dampen it by conceptualisation. You can not stop it. Seeing the process puts ‘you’ in touch with ‘oneness’.
One sees one’s helplessness not with a sense of meekness but with a sense of wonder.
Through conceptualisation mind leans on one side disregarding the other one. When the disregarding is not there, the concept drops, you are one with the situation.
When the senses interact with any thing (object) in the outer world and the mind (thought) is not dissipated, which means there is no satisfaction (sought) with regard to the outcome. That is, one is not connecting his joy with any side of the outcome; there arises complete factual understanding with regard to the object. There is a sort of uncertainty (wonder) in the interaction. This applies not only to objects but to ideas, emotions, all sensations as well.
Mind establishes a relationship (good-bad and so on) for its own use (satisfaction) with that object, idea and so on. This relationship becomes a barrier. Barrier in understanding the truth.
Mind always establishes a relationship with any thing or idea in contrast, that is, to cover up some dissatisfaction, shortage, lack, tension, anxiety, fear as if the thing or idea will take it out of dissatisfaction and so on. The release experienced binds us to satisfaction.
If we do not go to release, what else can be done?
Watch; understand that your mind always runs to the satisfactions promised by the next moment, period, the other person and so on. This implies questioning the content of stress itself. Mind is so much tethered to the experience of release (in contrast) that it dreads to leave it.
If leaving it is so difficult, why to pursue it?
Release will always be countered by pain.
Only understanding this programming will take you to the middle, balanced state. You can not do any thing except to understand the programming without any attraction of release.

18. Expressions of Life
Anger, fear, hatred, anxiety, stress, pain, thinking are the expressions of life.
So are the feelings of pleasure, happiness, joy, thinking.
Anger and so on is rejection of (disagreement with) ‘what is’.
Pleasure and so on is agreement with ‘what is’.
Neutrality is ignoring ‘what is’.
These three states are the expressions of life. Life vibrates through these states.
So whatever ‘what is’ (plus agreement, disagreement, neutrality) is the expression of life.
‘What should be’ ensnares the mind from ‘what is’.
Just see the above.
You become open to the unfolding of the mystery.

19. Factual interest and Mental interest
The contact of senses with the outer world is factual, sensual, interesting. Mind creates its own interest in interest, taste in taste, comfort in comfort, security in security, certainty in certainty, pleasure in pleasure. The movement from factual interest to mental interest is so swift that it seems automatic.
How thought of satisfaction (psychological comfort) works?
It is always apart from the usage value of any possession, relationship, situation, idea, that is, actual experiencing at the moment. The basis of psychological comfort is essentially thought.
‘How it has happened to me?
I should not have done so. I can do it. I will do it.
You should not have done so.
It would have been better, had I taken the other step.
He is a good person. I am good.
He is a bad person. I am bad.
That place is better. This place is better.
That place is not good. This place is not good.’
These all are digressions from the actual experiencing, however painful or pleasurable it may be, at the moment. I verbalise my interaction with every possession and so on through some thoughts of satisfaction.
By these thoughts, I establish, an imaginary relationship with the possessions, relationships and so on, which stresses them good or bad apart from their actual usage at the moment. The imaginary relationship is essentially psychologically comfortable.
To be aware of this comfort without any comfort is a mega step.

20. There is no ultimate winning or losing
There is no ultimate winning or losing, pleasure or pain.
All winning and losing are for mind’s consumption so that it may remain busy.
So that it may know the truth.
Mind is inflated in winning and deflated in losing.
Can one see this as a fact?
Mind is inflated in pleasure. It is so.
Mind is deflated in sorrow. It is so.
The inflation and deflation are acted upon by thought by some idea. Can one see it?
The entry of idea does not let the inflation and deflation work automatically. Inflation and deflation are system’s devices to maintain life.
Mind resists these by coining ideas, that is, likes inflation and dislikes deflation.
The abortion of idea is a step to the unknown.

21. The Great Secret and the Great Illusion
Can you see that you are always facing resistance in the form of pain and uncertainty, which is hindering your free movement, which is hindering the way you want to live, the way you want to possess, the way want to operate in life?
Can one be just aware of this resistance?
Can one just recognize this resistance?
Can one just absorb this resistance?
Can one just be one with this resistance?
Can one just face this resistance?
This facing ends the whole game.
What the mind is doing is to cover up, escape, explain away this resistance by coining some satisfactory idea?
What ever you may do this resistance can not be undone.
It will show up again and again till you face it.
Comforting ideas cast a veil over facing it.
But why to face it?
To know the Truth of Existence, the Secret of Existence, the Great Secret, the Great Illusion

22. Mind is Engagement
Ordinarily mind is engaged through the outer activities. Thought is working side by side to translate, to judge. The translation, judging keep one tied to outer activities. It explains away all painful as well as pleasurable activities. It works on the premise as if life is a defined phenomenon or it can be defined.
When fear, stress, anger, pleasure, confusion cause a stir on the operating system of the mind, there may arise combustion inside to know, to understand-what is all this Existence? When the combustion becomes strong, mind is disabled to explain away pain and pleasure. It sees them ‘as they are’ ‘what they are’, their arising and subsiding within. ‘Why and How’ of painful and pleasurable instances becomes a non-issue. One is ready to see the mystery of existence ‘live’.
Now one is engaged with oneself, though moving in the outer.

23. Comfort of 'What is'
We are unable to see that comfort (‘what is’) given by the System is integral, comprehensive.
One has to see this, recognize this.
One wants to define comfort as per one’s own will, definition.
This definition puts one’s will in contrast to ‘what is’.
One is fighting with ‘what is’.
Can one see the comfort of ‘what is’ without any idea?
It is the comfort of being ‘alive’!
When there is no psychological fight with ‘what is’, your will has a meaning.
There is integration between your will and System’s will.
You are attuned to the infinite possibilities junction.
Why one fights with ‘what is’?
Because one is not aware that this fighting is the error. Here the comfort of complaining, blaming, feeling guilty is not available to you.
